Gammatec NDT Supplies SOC Ltd was established in 1981 as Gammatec Engineering (Pty) Ltd, a company specialising in the manufacturing, marketing, sales and support for and to the Non-Destructive Testing industry. In 2009 the founding shareholders retired from the company with the sale of shares to NTP Radioisotopes SOC Ltd, a state-owned company and subsidiary of the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation SOC Limited (NECSA).

From establishment to 1994 the company focused on the South African market. After 1994 the company quickly expanded into Africa, Middle East and South-East Asia and today has a customer base in over 70 countries.

Gammatec Head Office is situated in Vereeniging, South Africa, from where it directly services its customers. Additional support is provided by dedicated distributors in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur. There are numerous appointed non-exclusive distributors in territories to provide personal interface support and service.
